Who we are?

 We are the INVISIBLES

            A Preamble by Cornlegend

"We joined a Party, the Labor Party because we wanted a better way .
We had the visionaries who sat beneath the Tree of Knowledge in Barcaldine and saw ahead of them a better way for the workers of this nation and those who believed in a fair go for all .

We know how to lead this Nation, all the way from 1904 when John Watson became Labors first PM, through to the Rudd/Gillard era, and in the intervening periods such luminaries as Chifley, Whitlam Hawke and Keating.

We know what policies work for Australia, from Medicare, Health and Education reform and a willingness to give those in need a help up, not a handout .
We have the life experience to just "know" what is right and fair.
Anthony Albanese, when talking about our current P.M. said "In your guts, you know he's nuts'
Sometimes, those of us who have been in the ALP for a long time have that "in your guts" feeling about policy and direction and we need that gut feeling to drive us on, to work to correct the policies that "in your guts" don't feel right and support the policies that do.

It was the ordinary people, the rank and file , if you like, who sat beneath the Tree of Knowledge and forged this great Party.
Nothing much has changed in all that time in this regard and it is the rank and file, with their shared visions, Knowledge,  gained from lived experience and comittment to the cause that can keep the Labor Party centred around a common thread of putting our fellow citizens first .
Policy that takes care of its people is policy that is ultimately good for our nation.

Advancing years may have slowed our bodies, but it never affects that "in your guts feeling" about what is right for the Party and the direction it should be on .
Use you years of knowledge and wisdom to to continue to fight for what is fair, good and just  .........................

Why is it that we know we`re being lied to by media and our elected members allow such falsehood?

Canada has a law preventing media from telling lies and this law keeps people and corporations like Murdoch and NewsLtd out of the country.

Fox News won a courtcase in the US allowing it to broadcast it`s lies under the guise of FREE SPEECH

Parliamentarians in Westminster have stated that Murdoch is not fit to hold a media license, yet he still operates.

Currently in Australia NewsLtd received almost $1 billion from us taxpayers in 2014 yet avoids paying tax - WTF

Murdoch who owns a large slice of Telstra and all Foxtel has destroyed our NBN rollout with open corruption/lies government collusion and an inferior outcome.

This has been achieved at almost twice the cost and taking twice as long

Murdoch is operating as a standover operator in many countries with impunity so why is he allowed to continue?

Murdoch is destroying our public braodcasters,ABC and SBS with his manipulation of our political process

It`s high time we had politicians whom we elect call and end to this Extortionist and Bovver boy by breaking up all Monopolistic Predatory Corporate activity

oWhy Grey power Labor ? ... My Reason,It is time for those of us who feel strongly that our voices are not being heard, to stand up and be counted. I am not an ATM for the ALP .. I am ME, and I deserve to be heard !".................

As just one of the disappointed older members who no longer attends our local Labor branch meetings, I decided to try and make a difference, with the suggestion of including spontaneous input and discussion from ANY member present at each monthly meeting.  It fell flat, as ‘ routine party business’ and ‘house keeping’ took the whole ONE hour per month allocated to our local Labor branch meeting.."...................

There are many elderly members wanting to give examples of how current Gov policy is affecting their particular situation and wanting answers as to what Labor was going to do to help.

These folk no longer attend meetings as they feel they have been ignored, sidelined and they have no voice.

These people are not thinking of ‘factions’ but after discussions with some, they .. like me, found that they were mostly left leaning and our priorities and concerns are basically the reason why Labor was formed.

There are thousands of missing ‘Grey Power Labor' voices, which deserve to be heard.

It’s time they were included, our group may grow to such an extent that to ignore our numbers and our vote would be at Labor's peril.

Let’s see if OUR Labor Party, cares enough to LISTEN to a Battalion of elderly, active, highly intelligent R&F ' Grey Power Labor' … Which will surely attract even more members.o

      An Ex

Homophobe`s

        Tale

How many are there like I was, intolerant of anothers sexual prediliction

I was brought up a Catholic and indoctrinated in their dogma at birth

I saw through the Catholic teachings hypocrisy quite early in life yet never saw through my own

Oh my Protestent friends were the same-hypocrites in their own way as I was

It wasn`t until my early twenty`s some 40 odd years back that I read Quentin Crisp and realized a humanity that I had not known

Homosexuals were not mentally ill or  an immorality, but my judgement of them was a lacking in my own human condition

My darling wife was never vexed so as her soul is far more accepting and after blessing us with four children she taught me to be human to everyone

I`m for same sex marriage and may love conquer intolerance            Henry

We are here to assist Labor win back                           government                      We are here to also bring about the                 reforms so needed by Labor

                We are Rank and File

We need to return Labor to the Left              with  a Democracy of process

We are Grey Power Labor

RESPECT FROM  YOUNG LABOR SHOWING OUR WORK IS NOT IN VAIN

 * I don't qualify for membership of Grey Power Labor but I most certainly will be a fervent supporter.
My birth parents are rabid Liberal Party supporters and to them, prestige, power and possessions’ are the things most important in life.
They hosted dinners as fund raisers for some of the most horrible Liberal MP`s around the Melbourne area.
I think I came from a parallel universe, for, as from a very young age I started to read biographies of Labor Politicians and revelled in the history of Jack Lang, Doc Evatt, Ben Chifley , Don Dunstan and of course the great man himself, Gough Whitlam .

At my first opportunity I joined Young Labor and took a strong and active interest and later on, even got to meet the man himself, Gough .
Not only do I think I come from a parallel universe but I must also have somehow been warped into a generational time warp because, politically, I feel most at home with the Grey Power Labor generation than I do to my own generation.
I have been privileged to meet many qualifiers for Grey Power Labor status, and to me I feel a kindred spirit.

As the Indigenous peoples of our land have their elders passing on the oral history, I have my “Labor elders” passing on the oral history of the cause from a personal perspective, and it is not what the Media will pass on as tradition.
I have learnt the history of Medibank/Medicare, the Anti Apartheid demonstrations, the ending of the Vietnam War, Free University Education, Mabo, Land Rights, The Green Ban movement, the Anti-Nuclear Movement, {long before the Greens were even an afterthought} The Reith “men in masks with dogs “attacking working conditions, and the jobs of wharfies in Melbourne, of Sievx, of “children overboard “, the SEQEB dispute brought on by Bjelke Petersen and so very much more.

Now I didn’t learn this from books, or documents or some old video somewhere.I learned this from the brave Labor men and women of those generations who were there , fighting the fight, on the picket lines ,confronting the issues head on , and from it all creating and developing policies that were good for the men women and children of Australia, and ultimately good for our nation .
The Grey Power generation, and those before them put people first, and that is evident is the policies that were implemented under Labor Governments throughout our history.
We need Labor governments in, to right the wrong, the unfairness and the greed that LNP Governments inevitably impose.
We need Grey Power Labor to fight for what is right and to educate the younger generations, and impart on them the wisdom of their years.Anthony Albanese, in talking about “idiot boy “{I learnt that today:-} ] Tony Abbott said,“In your guts, you know he’s nuts’, and sometimes some of the Grey Power Labor generation tell me that they get that “in your guts “feeling.A feeling that some Labor policy and decision making is “not quite right “.
One very staunch Labor supporter, very much Grey Power and closer to me than my own father told me“You know, we should look at our Labor Executive as Chefs, ready to turn out the greatest recipe for Soup when thinking of Labor Policy

They start with the prime ingredients and then think, we better drop in a bit of this, and a bit of that so it isn’t too far from the LNP policies and so Murdoch’s Media won’t be too hard etc.And then that Gourmet Soup recipe, with all the alterations, you know what it turns out to be?A bloody Soup Sandwich!”
Now I don’t want that and I’m sure you don’t either, and the way we can avoid that is for the good hard working members to have a greater say.
They say it because they live it every day, not for an opportunity at pre selection, or a cushy job in the Senate. The members do it because they want a better Australia for themselves, their families and friends and for the country they love so dearly.

I sincerely hope that Grey Power Labor can be the force for good that drives our decision makers to implement policies and programmes that are indicative of the kind, caring and nurturing heart that is Labor .
I want this great Party to prosper and continue on as a relevant and strong force for good in this country.
As I delight in being educated by those that qualify as “Grey Labor” I want the opportunity when I get to Grey Power status to be able to tell the youth of that generation that I was there, as a crying teenager as Kevin Rudd delivered “The Apology,

As our first female  PM, Julia delivered the “Misogyny Speech” as Gonski was implemented, when we were saved from the Global Financial Crisis, by forward thinking Rudd policies and many more.
I want to be able to tell them of the Labor achievements that people like Grey Power Labor made possible
I implore you to continue what you are unquestionably good at.Fighting for a fair go, and Labor *
